One Page Only?
How can ONE web page be called a website? Well it just can. You have a domain and you have a home page. It’s that simple. But why would you do that? One of the most basic reasons is that may be all you can do right now. You are either on a super tight budget or maybe your company is young and you don’t have that much info to warrant several pages. Some people opt for the 1-page website for the impact.
Tight Budget
If you are just starting your business out you simply don’t have a lot of money to play with. But it really is imperative that you have a presence on the web. If you hand someone your business card, they look for a web address. I can almost guarantee you that they want to see your website to get more information about who you are and what you do. It also lends credibility to your business.
There are a few options for the 1-page website:
Lowest price
1-page WordPress website created from an existing free template. This requires WordPress to be installed into your host account. Then there are some very simple free templates available on the Internet – it’s a matter of selecting one and installing it into the WordPress program. The logo gets replaced for the client logo. The content gets added. Since it is only one page, you’ll want to answer as many of the who, what, why, where, when, how questions as makes sense. This is also the fastest way to get on the web.

A 1-page HTML website can be custom designed to layout just the way that makes sense for your business. These can be kept very simple or you can add elements such as a photo slide show and tabbed panels to make the page more dynamic. Tabbed panels give the illusion of switching to different pages but it’s really just opening different text boxes. The pricing on this options depends on how fancy you want to make it.
Room to grow
Either of the above options does allow room to add pages over time as you have more budget or content. But if you want to start with a 1-page site and then also plan ahead for adding pages and content, you can have a custom designed 1-page WordPress website created. The custom designing and template creation add more to the cost, but it’s still not as much as having an entire website developed. The templates are set up so when you add a new page, it automatically gets added to the navigation. Instruction can be provided for basic WordPress editing and page adding.
Not Enough Content Yet
When you are a new business, sometimes you simply don’t have that much content to post. A 1-page website makes perfect sense for this situation. You can use any of the three options above, but the third one is recommended. It’s always best to have a custom look and feel for your business website.
Impact
Having a single page website has impact just by its nature. People will be surprised at a pleasant and thoughtfully designed page that is concise and to the point. And if you know you only want one page for impact, then there can be more effort put into the intricacies of that page including design and active features.
